then again his drumming is supposed to be a part of the bands overall sound. He's not on a quest to gain fame due to his "feel". He wants to be a part of a death metal concept, named hate eternal. savvy

Hey, Vinnie Pearl, you're absolutely correct. Aside from Mean Gene Hoglan with Dark Angel and the dudes in Suffocation, Sean Reinert was one of the first guys who really blew me away with "Human" by Death (RIP Chuck). Cynic has a new album out after many Yrs. I should check it out. We all should if we haven't yet!

I forgot about Mike Smith and the dude from Atheist. They kick ass too. Mike Smith was a neighbor of mine in Suffolk county Long Island. I have jammed with those guys down in Jay's (their Manager and my buddy) basement and they are all the real deal. They love the weed too.

I'd take Gimour over Malmsteen anyday. I'd rather get a chill down my spine and listen to something with melody and character than faceless scale patterns redone again and again by "shredders" who ONLY shred. I know these are two completely different players but that is exactly my point. Using speed when called for instead of blatantly abusing it is something I much rather prefer in music. Like I said, I warm my fingers up until I "shred" and THEN I start to really play music.

Here's to all the ignorant assholes that think technical proficiency is a huge factor in overall quality of a song. Derek Roddy ia a great drummer. He kind of sounds like the Yngwie of guitar. I warm my fingers up by essentially playing Malmsteen's leads - a variety of harmonic minors and modal/diatonic scales amongst some others. That is what technically pfoficient musicians often do - warm up drills. Where is the fucking FEEL?

truly speed is not everything, but not everybody has speed + endurance + accuracy-a definite plus in my book and not easy to achieve. and also ambidextrosity...drumming is a balance and none is least of importance when it comes to technique.

i believe you're the one who don't know better or are blinded by arrogance who thinks "he knows it all..."

I can't get tense over this shit! I got other shit I am determined to accomplish right now! However, my music is important! Yes, it is all a matter of taste indeed. I dunno. There is too much of viewing the art of music as athleticism or gymnsatics. I'm into it for the feeling and that is it!

Sean reinert, Gene Hoglan, danny Carey? Anyone realize that there is more than speed? These guys have it all: taste, creativity, feeling that adds to the song and then LASTLY and LEAST IMPORTANT technical proficiency and speed.GROW UP! He, he, he......

I know I started hostility somehow with the young kids who don't know better. It IS fun to see the reactions though...

you have a bad opinion thenhe cant even compare to kollias or roddyhes deffanently not the kingi really dont think anybody is the best death metal drummer i just think derrek and george have really good styles and techniques that are unique
