i think what this person meant was what kind of effect his singing vioce has. but it is sure that he intentionally does some things, like vibrato, wailing and other techniques

Everyone keeps on saying that no one like this song until the movie "Ray".The only time that you heard this song in there was very briefly towards the end of the movie.
