Technically the 68000 was a 32bit cpu but only had a 16bit data bus.There is a big difference between the A1200 and megadrive (in terms of games), we didnt really get to see the full potential of a stock A1200.
The sound chip "Paula" (from 1985) is great, it had taken around 7 years for something to match it (Gravis Ultrasound).
Agnus was a DMA contoller and also housed the Copper and Blitter.
There is another chip "Denise", from memory I think it controlled video modes and sprites.

The A600 uses a 68000 16 BIT processor the same as the MEGADRIVE/GENESIS, and the A1200 a 68020 which was 32 BIT, both machines were very simlar to the MEGADRIVE/GENESIS in terms of the games, it had a great sound chip called Agnus to, if I remember correctly.
