Don't listen to this if you cannot appreciate real music. When I was a small 12 year old, similar to yourself, I hated it too.

you know nothing about this music viola is extreamly dificult when you go into the higher positions you have to change everything about how you are playing so dont speak about what you dont know!!!!

What I don't get is how close they have to put their fingers! It's so weird.

darker or lighter pitch, depends on the wood and process of making it.

Wow, this is really good! But where is the rest of this movement, let alone the rest of the piece with the other two movements?I want more! This is great!

yeah, based on this, you can tell he is a violinst. i play a 16 1/2 and one time, i played my friend's viola (14) and it feels soooo small and i think a 14 is a full size violin... i have no clue how violinsts do it!

Very much agreed, he plays very well but the viola is not coming out as the main event here. The melody distracts the potential of this instrument for sure. He certainly has talent though :)

this viola guy wasted his life learing this gay instrument

viola is an additional 5th lower than the violin. violin's strings are g-d-a-e, viola is c-g-d-a, so the viola is a 5th lower in pitch. It also is a physically larger instrument so it produces a darker, richer tone than a violin.

What's the difference between a violin and a viola?
1. The viola burns longer.
2. The viola holds more beer.
3. You can tune the violin.
kyleclef (November 23, 2008 at 11:14 am)
you obviously don't understand it then douche.
smallwai937 (November 23, 2008 at 10:43 am)

He's more in tune than Bashmet.

I love this music. This is a really stupid question but,What's the difference between a viola and a violin? XD Sorry
nburkemdx (November 16, 2008 at 3:22 pm)
that is very very true

As a violist and a double bassist I find this interesting. I do not think he did terrible but at heart he is a violinist. It is interesting to see him play the viola but his style of playing doesn't make the best use of its tone. And in response to earlier posts this is quite usual. There is a point when you are at the peak (or near) of an instruments full potential and you want to expand on it with other isntruments.

I have seen virtuoso level violists play violin for a while too.
Frano911 (November 15, 2008 at 7:22 pm)
boring
Pikkon22 (November 15, 2008 at 7:11 pm)
because there is a greater chance of getting a job in a orchestra if you play the viola :)
nburkemdx (November 15, 2008 at 2:58 am)
I actually know a couple violinists that attempt viola and it almost seems to be just to say they could, but I don't want to have to generalize that violinists feel a need to prove themselves better across the board, but yet the rivalry continues.
