'step on the rudder full force'?I can't say i would reccomend this and I don't know of any pilot who would, even in a crosswind.

i have friend who's a pilot and he told me that on a perfect setting, the plane should come kind of sideways and the pilot would step on the rudder full force just a few feet off the ground to land straight, and keep working the rudders so the airplane don't skid off.

he was already on descent in final,nd had probably made the call,his intension were probably to turn to final some meters before the runway so the crosswind would eventuallly get him there which is not a bad idea,but he went for it and he knew he would make it which was great.

I think that 747 Kai Tak landing was completely botched. Even cross wind he should have been aligned with the runway. He was also short of the threshhold markings too. He should have gone around.
