Freedom Writers
Take a group of restless, inner city students raised in the wrong side of the tracks, a determined teacher with a mission, and a session in Room 203, exploring beyond what is written in textbooks, and you get a movement that starts through writing. "Freedom Writers" is based on the true story of Erin Gruwell (played by Hilary Swank) and a diverse group of racially charged students. Unfortunate moments add up to memories that scar us with little or no explanation as to "why" it had to happen. This film inspires viewers to give hope a chance, even under the pressures of society. The Freedom Writers found an outlet to express their angst and rebellion through the help of their mentor, their teacher. Together, they mentally battled their way to survival. Sometimes the best way is the "write" way. Also starring: Mario.

cool probably one of the best movie for me. it isnt just a movie but is someting that the world should learn. it teaches us to be together like brothers no matter where they come from.

if anybody that goes to LB Wilson currently and/or in the past, tell me if you like this movie. if you don't live in LB or attended school there, then you have no valid opinion about this movie. the point is, is that people still get the wrong mentality about urban areas like LB because of dumb people like the author, the author was just straight up racist for just upholding the same stereotypical view of LB. all of you are just naive rich going along for the ride. i feel bad for you people.

Take a chill pill. The movie was about tolerance. The book may have been 'racist' for you, but the whole point was to be tolerant of each other. If the movie should be degraded for trying to promote tolerance by heightening differences, so shoot me. Obviously you missed the point of the movie.

that is why... this movie was about the PAST
not the PRESENT
Wilson High probably has changed the past years to tolerate Racism.
and seriously how would you know? did you attend Wilson back then? Were you in the "dumb" class? Were you in a gang like the people in the story?

this is a stupid monkey balls movie, in the book, she talks about teaching at LB Wilson high school, theres nothing but rich whites and azns with your affluent black/hispanics sprinkled around. the author of the book that made the movie happen is a fucking racist and this movie should be degraded for it, fuck you all for liking it

You may not have had as bad an experience as this, but some did. That's what this movie enlightens us to. The fact that some did Go Through Hell! The saddest part of the whole movie to me is the fact that the actor that was "framed" for the murder early on actually was killed at a Denny's (I think) shortly after the movie was made. He was helping out someone who was in trouble or something like that. What a fucking Shame! That is the reality of this story... This stuff STILL goes on!! :(

I went to HS in LB (Poly) and it's not nearly as bad as this film makes it look.
