reactable: basic demo #2

http://... reactable, is a multi-user electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible user interface. Several simultaneous performers share complete control over the instrument by moving physical objects on a luminous table surface. By moving and relating these objects, representing components of aclassic modular synthesizer, users can create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language.

This instrument is being developed by a team of digital luthiers (Sergi Jordà ,Martin Kaltenbrunner, Günter Geiger and Marcos Alonso), at the Music Technology Group within the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain.

Wow. I listen to this and hear endless musical possibilities. This table is an instrument. This is just a demo; they're not trying to do anything musical.

Apparently there is a programme that you can download for free that is exactly like this but you can use it on your computer. Does anyone know what the name of it is?
mafiaBH (December 4, 2008 at 2:31 am)
And I suppose you´re an music AND programming expert, right ?

Fucking fantastic visual display
Chumleh (November 12, 2008 at 12:20 am)
I mean, it looks cool, and it's no doubt very powerful, but what can it do that a modular synth can't? It's no doubt just as expensive.
endallskies (November 10, 2008 at 9:16 pm)
this is rad. i love that there is a "beat box" hahaha.
GeneralZewro (October 11, 2008 at 3:17 pm)

this like the most amazing thing i've seen... dj and their records are now in the past... this is a new era..
nueve08 (July 25, 2008 at 2:24 pm)
Well, it could be by any of the ones I mentioned... did you know that Radiohead has invented their own weird ways to come up wth new sounds by tearing up a keyboard and log it with a mac and other instruments or maybe Bjork that has used instruments that we didn't even know that they existed? like her voice only in diffrerent tunes (chdeck out her album "Medula"(2004)... the weirdest album ever (just next to "Kid A"(2000) by Radiohead:P
