Yundi Li - Chopin "Fantasie" Impromptu, Op. 66

Of course no video collection would be complete without the cliche Yundi Li video of him playing Chopin's "Fantasie" Impromptu in C-sharp minor, Op. 66 No. 4 This is one of my favorite pieces.did you know: Chopin hated this piece? He composed it when he was just 24 and regretted it ever after.

Technically perfect, but too fast. Why so fast?

This piece is featured in quite a bit of games, I think I remember hearing it on Clock Tower 3. Used so perfectly too.

what a beautiful piece. i dont see why he hated it, even if it did sound like moonlight sonata 3rd mvm.

I don't think Chopin really hated this piece, but only said it before other people would say it, just think about it, if he really hated this piece, why would he give it to a friend to let him destroy it? If he really hated it, he would destroy it personally. I think he wanted to get this piece published, and knew his friend would to.Very very nice done Yundi Li!

that's freaking difficult. I play it like 5 times slower compared to him :(

No joke.

One of my favorites too! Chopin hated it because he thought it sounded too much like Moonlight Sonata. He gave it to one of his friends and asked him to destroy it/never publish it, but some years after Chopin's death, his friend published it...

The first time I heard this song it was in a N64 game. I think it was called "Luigi's Mansion" lol. This music perfectly described the scene in the game in which Luigi had to capture a ghost in the piano room. Am I a dork to have said that? oh well.Anyways...awesome piece! :)

SIlentPianist47 (January 6, 2009 at 9:49 am)
Chopin is greater
SIlentPianist47 (January 6, 2009 at 9:46 am)
no... La Corda D'oro is the same piece like this~ This came first!
SIlentPianist47 (January 6, 2009 at 9:23 am)
Yeah... I think you are party right~ Maybe because of this piece... people didn't want to listen to his other pieces but this , which spoils all the pieces he composed, therefore people will forget the other piece he composed~
NejiOisOawesome (January 6, 2009 at 2:51 am)
actually its because he found out that one passage in it was EXACTLY the same as Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (3rd movement) at least thats one reason...
FreddysHamster (January 6, 2009 at 2:25 am)
I'd say it was a 7 or maybe even a 6 compared to hugely more difficult music out there! Its more playable than you first imagine :-) I can play it in a fashion so it must be! not this fast but its getting there slowly
kewelgirl (January 6, 2009 at 12:57 am)
it is a 7
romanticgirl164 (January 5, 2009 at 7:35 pm)
a very very good pianist ;P i know it just seems really impossibly fast and too good to be true!! too perfect.. sigh
