So, if I get it right I can use iWorks in my Mac, but it will only have English preinstalled? Can I install Greek fonts or should then install the Microsoft Office for Macs???
ipunkbali (January 8, 2009 at 6:07 am)
please show the damn macbook
amikaels (January 8, 2009 at 1:38 am)
Yes, Microsoft makes an OSX Version of Word. Apple also make their own office package called iWork which is really good, but it only exists in an English version.

can you use Word on macs?
Tnoy34rt (January 7, 2009 at 6:11 am)
no, those are just theoretical speeds. firewire is around 30% faster in re-world usage.

orly, I seem to get that impression with my 'plastic' one!

Firewire 400 is actually slower than USB 2.0. So it's pretty redundant to have firewire 400 unless you have firewire 800. (which is on the macbook pro)
Firewire 400 = 400mbps
USB 2.0 = 480mbps
Firewire 400 = 400mbps
USB 2.0 = 480mbps

I agree with you, I don't know but mine when I turn it to WindowsXP, it empty 2times faster.

mariofreak91 (January 2, 2009 at 6:34 pm)
I just bought a hp laptop the other day, but thinking of returning it to BestBuy for a macbook. I don't see the point in saving money if I'm not fully satified with the computer, but I'll have to pay BestBuy a $100+ for a restocking fee!

and it is also where the motherboard, cpu and graphics card are the CPU does get hot, i have had mine running around 80ish before, gets pretty intence
bengst (December 27, 2008 at 5:33 pm)
if that's the case, maybe you can consider buying acer aspire x930 series (with x is the screen diagonal inch). So if you want 15", the series is 5930. 4930 is 14".
With Blu ray drive included, you can watch BD movies and impress your friends :).
If I were you, try borrowing your friend's MacBook (a week maybe? ;-))and familiarize yourself with it. It really nice!

at my school we have to have laptops and the school one that they 'recommend' is always really shit and expensive. i have a school one at the moment and it breaks so easily btu the good thing is it's really easy to get fixed because you just take it to the school computer guy and he sends it off. i cracked my screen and it only cost $100. but my parents have decided not to get a school computer again so it's up to me to choose when i want one and what one i want.
ziggibyte (December 26, 2008 at 12:02 am)
it is hot in the upper-left because that is where the MagSafe is.

IMO, for high school, it depends on how mobile (and how geeky :p) you are. I don't think it's necessary to bring a laptop to the school or use it at home. I think desktop is more useful.
You mean switching from PC to Mac?
FYI, you _can_ use Windows™ on a Mac. But using Mac keyboard on Windows™ is quiet confusing.
For switching from Windows™ to MacOSX, that's another story. It's not hard, but not that easy either :)
Meh? I love my MBP (never shut it down) and cannot go back to PC.

do you think it's a good option for a laptop in high school?
also, is it hard switching from windows to mac?
