There is no technological gimmick involved. It is actually very sad. The guy who got "cut in half" was born that way. The leg that moves is another guy leaning into the cabinet of the table with his legs sticking out. The "cut in half" guy wears a mask to hide his identity. The guy who comes out in the end is a different person. Terrible.
