Not entirely what he was getting at, and mma definitely doesn't apply to what lee said. You should do some research my friend.

According to Dana White (President of UFC) Bruce Lee was a pioneer of MMA.

if bruce lees style was so gud, why do u never see it in anything goes compitetion or mma, its outdated n theoretical same as all the other shit martial arts u dont see past like ufc 6 cos all there guys got battered! n bruce lee is not a pioneer of mma,
deathleader9 (January 5, 2009 at 11:33 pm)
Wait so is this what you learn to do in a martial arts class? whats the difference between all the difference with all of them?
snookiefinn (January 5, 2009 at 11:32 pm)
indeed - bruce lees ideas were far to advanced for their time. he was essentially the pioneer of mma as he was one of the first to combine and mix combat styles, "to be like water". his arguement was that to stick to one form or art, restricts the fighter. because of this revolutionary thinking, we now have ufc. which rocks!!! i like, bruce lee rules to !! jkd is a good example of his ideas . .
ttuberturbo (January 5, 2009 at 10:56 pm)
plus, unfortunately, bruce lee died 20 years befor the ufc was born, and there are no JKD fighters on MMA, thats why they did not feature JKD on this.
ttuberturbo (January 5, 2009 at 10:56 pm)
i respect bruce lee but there are many other masters in the world, not only bruce lee.i dont know how bruce proved his martial art efficiency if there are no videos of bruce lee fighting for real, there are only demonstrations and trainings, since they recorded almost all his trainings and demos, of course they would record their fights.
blade83336 (January 5, 2009 at 8:28 pm)

"Jeet Kune Do is not a mixed martial art, it is a science of combat modified from Wing Chun, Kickboxing and many more martial arts"LOL - A mixture of "many more martial arts" sounds a lot like (M)ixed (M)artial (A)rts to me!
tango111111111 (January 4, 2009 at 9:15 am)
Bruce Lee did all the science for fighting efficiency years ago, why are we ignoring original Jeet Kune Do?
tango111111111 (January 4, 2009 at 9:13 am)
It's a shame that original Jeet Kune Do was not featured in this documentry. Bruce Lee had devised a system of "no holds bard" fighting that was scientifically efficient. No martial artist should ignore it. Jeet Kune Do is not a mixed martial art, it is a science of combat modified from Wing Chun, Kickboxing and many more martial arts. But we must also remember that jeet kune do is philosophy for combat and life, and is not a sport, but a kill art for the street.
sagmann20 (January 4, 2009 at 4:44 am)
sometimes, but a lay and pray fighter is boring no matter whos watching
sagmann20 (January 4, 2009 at 4:43 am)
im not shocked, the way he fights, he doesnt concentrate much on defense
sagmann20 (January 4, 2009 at 4:42 am)
everything evolves...you cant have so much "respect" for your ancient art that u believe it flawless, after all it was created by men. MMA employs a blend of tactics from many styles that have proven most effective in combat situations. true every fighter (even these fighters) may not be masters, but dont blame MMA
PubliusAfricanus (January 4, 2009 at 2:34 am)
"name your "master" outside of mma and see if they can take the masters of mma in any type of fight"
And if they do?
And if they do?
PubliusAfricanus (January 4, 2009 at 2:33 am)
How would they know what works? Most of them don't even train in the arts they steal from, they just learn moves some "jack-of-all-trades" teaches them.
nemisis0 (January 3, 2009 at 7:12 am)
Your wrong, they are masters of the best of what martial arts has to offer. All the other worthless BS martial arts has to offer they throw away. After all if you want to win a fight, you use what works and the best way to know what exactly works is to actually fight. Not pretend to beat someone up who isn't even fighting back.
BoGuSknowsBeSt (January 3, 2009 at 5:45 am)
wow, there are plenty of mma fighters who deserve all the respesct in the world, bj penn, gsp, rashad evans, randy couture, lyoto machida, anderson silva, fedor, and the list goes on and on and on.... what about unknown4658 saying the fighters arent masters... they are nothing but masters... name your "master" outside of mma and see if they can take the masters of mma in any type of fight
GabrielWaski (January 2, 2009 at 3:36 am)
unknown4658, you say that there not masters. Lmao! There masterfuly adept at the art of MMA, and self defence. My instructor is going into UFC in 2010, and hes a 3 time black belt. Most of the fighters in here are VERY experianced, do fuck off. STAY unknown.
HAXPWNED (December 31, 2008 at 8:23 am)
since when is Dean Lister an MMA legend?a BJJ legend MAYBE but mma legend? what has he done in mma?
Peekingduck (December 31, 2008 at 7:54 am)
I disagree.
I think the reason is some of the personalities and attitudes plus how it's perceived as desensitizing to harm and violence. I'm not saying it's true nor that it isn't. In some it seems like a fetish. Still most of these guys train really hard and a lot of them are really nice.
