I actually realized M.A.S.H exists thanks to "Lingering dad" from Tripod.

I think too that suicide idea applies to us war in Korea. (yes Korea vs US war MASH isnt about Vietnam folks)
Painless maybe thats why it was abroad and people in US didnt actually give a dam about it. Same as with all other US wars. But still somewheare inside it was a suicide for many.

mainly it refers to "painless", the charakter of the mash-movie.
secondly, I guess, it somehow is about the idea of war being somewhat like a suicide. I always thought/like to think that it's saying something like that.

3 Shows in history for me that I can watch over and over and over. I grew up with MASH because of my dad and I STILL watch them almost everyday on tv over and over and they never get boring to me. GREAT, great show. Termed the phrase dramedy as many know and still the most watched finale episode in history. It is ironic the name of the song and the music only version for tv, but still a great show. My other two are Seinfeld and 70's show. MASH is still my all time favorite tv show. Enjoyed.

Strange that the theme from "MASH" is written around not only suicide, but also the idea of suicide being painless. Is it painless? For whom - the person committing suicide or the people left behind? Both? Neither?

MASH is one of my top 3 favourite TV shows - sheer genius. Strange really, bearing in mind most American "comedy" shows are bloody awful.

Is it like the show? yes and no..there are a lot more boring and gross and smelly parts than the show..but the camarderie is so very real. Best and worst time of my life.
