Its the beginning of the movie. When did he lose the duel? All was shown that the crazy guy was speeding and once he sees the interceptor, he suddenly gets afraid.Why?

I love the sound of max's interceptor as it rumbles out to do battle with the nightrider,that v8 sound sends a shiver down my spine.Exellent movie one of my all time favorites.
