Medical Mecca - China
November 2004A controversial treatment using the stem cells of aborted foetuses is producing remarkable results. Many desperate patients see it as their only hope. They come from all over the world in search of miracles. "We heard that people were coming over to China and they were getting better," explains Mike Thomas. "They were walking again, talking again, breathing again." China's lax safety regulations and different ethical considerations have enabledDr Huang Hongyun to blaze a trail in this field. He is the only doctor in the world to inject stem cells directly into the brains or spinal cords of ALS suffers or paraplegics. His work has turned two pieces of conventional medical wisdom on their head -- that spinal injuries are untreatable and that ALS is impossible to stabilise. For the first time ever, Dr Huang has allowed tv cameras to film the extraordinary surgical procedure. In the words of patient Laura Jackson, "He does miracles here."

We went to China few months ago for my son to have stemcell treatments for his eyes. He is 3 and was blind. Now he can see and pick out ALL his colors, and see objects 2 inches in front of his face. And we are returning for a second round of treatments. People can judge all they want, but until they walk in these sick/disabled people's shoes- they have NO ROOM TO JUDGE..NONE!Instead attempt to educate themselves! There's a reason God gives certain people challenges in their lives and not others.

Now it has been discovered that stem cells from a person's bone marrow are more effective than the embryos' because they contain the own person's DNA. Several clinics around the world now use bone marrow stem cell transplant with good success.

Well as the fact is there is no killing taken place, what is used is waste: the umbrillical cord. Get your facts right before you open your mouths

Killing lives to give lives is God's job. We tried and will try. Poor souls.

The "pro-life" Christian couple seemed to have forgotten about their religious beliefs as soon as they became paralized. Hypocrites are always more "sensible" when shit happens to them which they protest.

This is why crazy religion and State should be kept separated. Stem cell research will do wonders for medical break through but religious wacko are preventing this from happing in the west. If you don't want to do it fine but why keep everyone else from getting better.

my boys in iraq had a choice, they joined the army, they knew what they were doing. what choice do the poor guys that I talked about in my original post.. in china get?
fomiz (February 29, 2008 at 8:17 am)
Going off on those tangents yet again are you?If you look at my original post I suggested your comments are hypocritical and as it is they still are.Protest against your own countries problems first before trying to fix the wrongs else where.Your boys in Iraq could do with your help.

bravo! hooray for china. glory bejing 2008. i hope the marathon runners will not die from lack of air when they try to run in one of the most polluted cities on earth. look lets just agree to disagree. china's situation is bad for people like me who fight for truth in our home countries, because skeptics can say "look at how africa or china lives, see our situation isn't so bad", but I don't think chinese truth-seekers have to deal with the same type of "usa also has poison air" ya right.....
futbolglory (February 29, 2008 at 5:24 am)
china is doing much to eliminate pollution? AAHAHAHAHHAHAHAh that was the joke of the century. building a new coal plant every week does not equal to reducing pollution. people die from lung cancer there faster than a chain cigar smoker. building giant dams which destroy rivers and cause earthquakes, also is not good for environment. and eating endangered animals as elixirs?? china is now #1 in carbon emmissions, and where i live (san francisco, 1/3 of the air pollution is directly from china)
fomiz (February 29, 2008 at 4:39 am)
Injustice is injustice regardless, and please tell me,how do you measure which type of injustice is worser than others? What the hell are you mentioning environmental issues for?Stop veering off on a tangent with your argument. Make a valid point on the original topic or shut up!
However, in terms of pollution.Chinese government are doing things to eliminate that.Watch the show entitled 'The Long March - China ' by this user to enlighten your ignorant mind.

and even if you don't believe the conspiracy theory of 911.Does it make it any better that American government, wage war in other countries,in order to secure oil reserves? What are American soldiers actually still doing in Iraq, despite no weapons of mass distruction found and Sadam overthrown? If you're concern about human-rghts compaign about the return of soldiers from Iraq.

First of all Obama has not been elected and no don't in the slim chance that he does get elected. He won't be there for long.White America will see to that, one way or another, pop pop pop!Secondly, you're right America doesn't condone organ harvesting, that we know of,but they sure make sure they profiter from the death of it's own citizens. Please don't tell me you believe the governments account of 911.You're not that naive are you?

hah, no surprise you're Chinese, I couldn't imagine any one else posting just a brutal perspective. Maybe a Burmese... I'll leave it at that. I'm just glad you're not in power.. yet anyways.
Still makes me laugh. "rather than moral or ethical issues, we can have a better future." PRICELESS

that an ethnic minority is about to be elected President of the United States, despite being a minority, I mean you would want me to mention all that, RIGHT?
The criminal justice system is terrible in the US no doubt about that. It doesn't aim at stopping crime but making it appear as though the poor are behind crime (while the rich get away with millions of dollars scott-free). But no one is sentenced to death and has their organs harvested for profit. The system was yet another, based on UK..

that ethnic minorities in the States, despite being a minority make up the highest percentage of prison inmates.I mean you would want me to mention all that, because then you would feel a little stupid and your argument would appear ridiculous, RIGHT? lol
fomiz (February 29, 2008 at 1:23 am)
As for human injustice, well the USA,is founded on that basis.Let's not talk about the mascre of millioins of native Indians, nor the oppression of Latin America to secure the oil revenues in countries such as Venezuela, and least of all the fact

hah, your little chinese proverb sounds more like scapegoat propoganda. oh wait you ARE Chinese, what a surprise = there goes your credibility. while far from perfect you cannot compare injustice in the US with injustice in China. America is more like not living up to its high potential, while in China its more like not living up to the quality of life its citizens had 2000 years ago. Pathetic argument If nothing is changed China will finish destroying the environment and sustainability of life
