And it is, because the sad thing is that except for Hamiet Bluiett all these giants of jazz are long dead. We will never hear the likes of them again.

This cooks so hard it's on fire. Everybody is burning Nitro. But that was Mingus--A total genius to put music like this together and always have the best players. Both Don Pullen and George Adams were giants--so incredible yet underrated. God only knows why. And has anyone ever thanked Dannie Richmond for being and giving?? I love George's quote of "Surrey with the Fringe on Top" at 2:01. Way Out West, for sure!!

Always thought Mingus was at his peak when working with Don Pullen and George Adams, there seems to be telepathy between them.. Can't recommend the album this track was taken off enough, Mingus Moves, a real unappreciated gem that deserves the same recognition as Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and other classics. Thanks for posting :)

The guy in the baritone sax is playing so fucking high! He makes it sound like a desperate soprano sax. Never saw anything alike.
DaedrikBreton (October 13, 2008 at 7:39 pm)
He's terrible, no offence.
