steelstringdragon is right. if you try plucking a guitar string in the center of the string you get a very mellow "electronic" kind of sound. this is the fundamental mode of vibration of the string. (remember physics?) striking a string in different places produces different combination of such modes.

This totally reminds me of the movie August Rush

It doesn't sound acoustic because he's using fresh-outta-the-box steel strings, and he's tapping on the neck

I never said it wasn't good, or even that i didn't like it, I just commented on the fact that it did not sound like he was playing an acoustic guitar, which was interesting to me.

i`d like to see you do a video response thats any better?>:/

A lot of guitarists use effects, its just a way to express more of the sound don't you think?
chickenlord3 (December 30, 2008 at 9:26 pm)
Doesn't sound acoustic at all, because of all the effects he is using.
:/
very impressive though.
I'd Like to hear a raw version, just to compare.

if you guys like this, i would strongly recommend listening to Michael Hedges. He was the first one to do things like this on the acoustic guitar. afterwards, people like Kaki King, Justin King, Erik Mongrain, Andy McKee, etc etc pretty much were influenced by him. they are more technical and take this kind of playing to a new level, but it's cool to see where it all began. i recommend watching "Ritual Dance" "Because It's There" and "The Rootwitch" by michael hedges, they're great.

you and me both. it's people like this guy that exist to make us feel like burning our guitars and disregard our guitar skills and forever live as celibate monks stuck in a unknown monastery.

It's a wild combination of ambient and technical skill that I can only name two like it. Chopin on piano and Debussy on lower strings. Totally enjoyable.
Mepamper (December 19, 2008 at 2:10 pm)
I liked it!

I will now burn all of my guitars. Amazing!
mercury904 (December 16, 2008 at 12:28 am)
it sounded 12 string because he is using chorus effects and compressors
