Well, why would it necessarily be on one of their albums? In any case, it did happen to be on Leslie West's 1969 album, entitled "Mountain".

see, this is the reason I always want to have a power trio.....people keeps asking "why don't you find another guitarrist? why don't you put someone to play keyboard?"think about jimi hendrix experience, cream, mountain, nirvana, motorhead, rush, etc(of course I'm forgeting someone, please, tell me who!!! I fell like it's a stupid mistake)... and you will see that they have a particular sounding that another bands of their same style with more mebers don't have...

Cheers mate, I do have a very broad taste in music and Mountain are awesome (though admittedly I only know a little of their material). That all depends on what you recognize as rock n roll. If you mean bands playing good music? Kings of Leon, Radiohead, The Black Keys, Kaiser Chiefs, The John Butler Trio. These guys are playing awesome music all over the globe. Mainstream music nowadays is crap no doubt if you look at top of the pops or whatever, but hasn't that always been the case?

Tomv, you are a young man, 20, with some great taste in music if you like Mountain. However, if you grew up listening and watching music from the 60's and 70's, we know the 80's ended pretty much 90% of the Rock n Roll we recognized. It is already 2008, and I dont see ANY rock acts take on the World like Mountain&Sabbath did. And dont tell methey are a hard act to follow, because Mountain&Sabbath had to follow Elvis&the Beatles.

Bluewine what are you on about man? Our Generation didn't yeild great musicians?
I think you're focusin on the mainstream talent man and if you're going to do that then I don't think you should be bringing up artists like Jimi, BB and Albert.
There are plenty of old artists that have a hell of a lot of respect for todays musicians because they recognise that there is some amazing talent being produced every day.

Ronedee, go easy on these youngsters, their generation did not yeild any 1st class talent like Leslie, Eric, Jimi,BB, Albert to name a few. They have these guys like John Meyer, what is he? I saw him and the crowd went wild over his playing. They did not know he was playing Voodoo Child lick for lick. What a hack.

Be sure Ronedee to check out "Mountain - Never In My Life - New York 1970" on the Tube. At the 3 minute mark you will be AMAZED how hard Corky can hit a drum set.. I thought he was going to fall right through the stage!!

My pleasure TSI ! I have many great memories about Mountain. Leslie is one reason I picked up the guitar. Some of the concerts were a blur! LOL But, some things can't be blurred! I was always amazed how Leslie would cooly, and effortlessly bang out the sweetest tones and riffs. While Felix would be dripping in sweat and growling at us w/ his EBO! And roadies throwing buckets of water on Corky as he banged drums harder than any drummer I've seen! Including Keith Moon&my beloved Bonzo! AWESOME!

That's a great story, thanks!

Haha, nice! Well on August 28, 1990, Mountain played at Steve Loungo's World Stage nightclub in Nanuet, NY. Was supposed to be a 2 hour set. Mountain was on that stage for at LEAST 4 and a half hours. Leslie played searing versions of Look at Little Sister and Pride&Joy, in honor of Stevie Ray Vaughan, who had been killed the day before. Then Leslie proceeded to jam out on SRV and Cream catalogs, in addition to the Mountain set. So Samcandy, talk what ya KNOW brotha!
ronedee (December 21, 2008 at 6:28 am)
LOL! You base your opinion on 1 performance? I saw Mountain at least a dozen times. I never saw a band put more energy and sweat into their music than Mountain! They played in a blizzard at the Palace Concert Theater, Providence RI, Friday, Dec. 28, 1973, to about 50 people! I was one of them! They could've blew the concert off! BUT DIDN'T! They invited all of us onstage! Me and a good friend stood right next to Leslie as he played his ass off on a Les Paul Jr that had a fold out ashtray in it!

Os caras são doidões e mandam um Rock pesado muito louco! Yhe!
depper (December 19, 2008 at 1:34 pm)
Youtube messed up so I will type it again. I can tell you that you are definitely wrong about Mountain "not loving to perform" and "lacking drive". That is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Mountain was about. Mountain was an improv band... most likely the best in rock history. They LOVED to jam, never played the same song twice the same way. Considering Leslie West and Corky Laing 40+ YEARS LATER are STILL JAMMING, I think you may have been a BIT mistaken!
depper (December 18, 2008 at 9:20 am)
I meant to say Montain was an improv band, and that they never played the same song twice the same way. Daym local breweries' crappy beer! ;)
