The excessive use of profanity points to a feeble mind just trying to express itself. Ha ha

Whats with all the nerds on here posting these long comments about Spartan history?Boring.I thought it was funny that Butler admitted that he let himself go as soon as the movie was finished.Atleast he'll have this film to look back on when he's old and out of shape.
Gibson889 (December 10, 2008 at 3:48 am)
where there monsters and shit?
drewtaz (December 10, 2008 at 12:58 am)
Eh, well yes and no. 300 of the royal guard/Knights perhaps. But with every sparitite went their various servants and squires, much of who also fought along with their masters. Combine this with other Periokoi who again were added to maintain the Army. Once again add the Thespians who refused to leave the battle field but instead stayed with Spartans to fight, you're looking at a pretty sizable force. Well over 300 on the last day. 300 true Spartan soldiers sure.

The movie is very accurate compared to other historical events brought to screen, down to the oracle. The Battle of Thermopylae (Thermopylae, "hot gates" in Greek) is more true to number as depicted than people actually think. It is true that 300 Spartans stood against a million or very close to a million when you think of the Persian empire at that time comprising nearly all of Asia and much of the Middle East. Just a history lesson for all you skeptics. I happen to love the movie.

Oomg!! Heee iis Tooo Hot!! x
nattydred (December 3, 2008 at 7:29 pm)
It is factually accurate, its based on the Battle of Thermopylae which was a last stand by 300 Spartans plus different groups of Greeks and Arcadians who wanted to stand with King Leonidus and fight with him. Sure some things have been slightly changed but that is for the artisitc liscence, and when you compare this to other so called 'historical' films such as Pearl Harbor it is incredibly accurate. But that probably says more about Pearl Harbor the movie than 300 to be honest...
