They're built at the Holden plant in Adelaide South Australia.

Its just that american companies are outsourcing all their labor and parts overseas, so many of the "American" cars, are really built in Canada, Mexico, or Australia, with parts made all over the world. so calling it "American Muscle" is kinda right, because it follows the "American Muscle" formula, but also so very wrong because its not BUILT in America.
helldamnfart (January 6, 2009 at 1:43 am)
I think the GTO IS an American style muscle car, because it started as something else, just as the orginal GTO started as a Tempest with a bigger engine, upgraded transmission, and upgraded suspension. REAL American muscle cars (not pony cars, i.e. mustang/camaro) have always started as big heavy family cars with huge engines. Thats the definition of American muscle. Its just that American muscle is getting beat by Import Tuners, which is the new hot rodding community. Its modern muscle.

That may be true but the GTO still handles like an American car. There's a reason all the legitimate European car shows won't give it the time of day.

Let these idiots go bankrupt. These are junk cars fit for mexicans and white trash.

You don't think it is fitting to call it a "muscle car" or "GTO"? That is because it was not intended to be. Since 1968, the Holden Monaro (now rebadged as a GTO), was only ever a 2-door version of the Holden full size family car, just a grocery-getter with 2 less doors. Most models along the way were available with the same engines regardless of it being a 2-door Monaro or a 4-door Kingswood or Commodore. Pontiac tried to make something else of it, and according to many Americans, failed.

Try Monaro, not manaro.
krazzyyo2 (January 5, 2009 at 6:15 am)
Piece of shit american redneck garbage...
Birreh (January 5, 2009 at 3:05 am)
The GTO is just The aussie holden manaro but with an ugly front bar. Pontiac desided to ugly it down for the us domestic market. look up manaro on google
helldamnfart (January 5, 2009 at 2:54 am)
ya, i cant say the GTO looks any better than the STI. At least the STI looks like a rally car, and thats what it was built for. The gto looks like a sedan with 2 doors and is just as slow even though it has a 400hp LS2. pretty sad.
the70stang (January 5, 2009 at 12:50 am)
What the hell were they thinking when they designed the GTO? Its one of the ugliest "muscle cars" I've ever seen.
Lancerochek (January 4, 2009 at 10:12 pm)
Subaru WRX STI is cool car and i think that is better than GTO!!!
CordovaMage (January 4, 2009 at 6:01 pm)
Id still take a GTO over STi. I just dont like the styling on the Imprezia. They seem to be getting uglier and uglier every year.Plus keep in mind the GTO isnt an american car, its a Holden with a Pontiac badge and some minor tweeks for the american market.
They needed to shead some weight on the GTO though, they are too heavy. Its amazing that the newer GTOs actually out weigh the older ones.

ya i guess it blows it away if you're racing in a circle, good luck on the drag strip subaru
Georgenfla (January 4, 2009 at 1:31 pm)
Yep, the american manufacturers lose again! A little 4 cylinder family car from Japan blows away the big V8 american JUNK!
GST77 (January 3, 2009 at 9:46 pm)

helldamnfart (January 3, 2009 at 8:32 pm)

GST77 (January 3, 2009 at 8:06 pm)

helldamnfart (January 3, 2009 at 8:05 pm)
haha, no, i jump out of airplanes.
GST77 (January 3, 2009 at 7:43 pm)
my previous statement still stands "go jump off a cliff"
helldamnfart (January 3, 2009 at 7:19 pm)
and i was being facicious about seeing an s7 vs a 35K car. I was pointing out that hell never see an S7 but in a car show, and no one will be driving one around to pick up groceries. so whats the point in comparing them?
helldamnfart (January 3, 2009 at 7:09 pm)
the only thing ive seen searching for "top gear STI" is STI vs. evos, audis, etc, no s7s. dont just say "watch top gear" and expect that to be any sort of informative answer.
helldamnfart (January 3, 2009 at 7:07 pm)
what the fuck are you babbling about? you just said watch top gear, with no other specifications. Im not going to watch 100 episodes of top gear hoping to find what your babling about. episode number? what 2 cars? I thought you were still talking about the GTO vs STI argument. be more specific.
