Duh, the microphone is in the wind you morons that is why it sounds shitty. I have a G8 and it sounds awesome, looks awesome, and is a blast to drive. And I raced a BMW on the way home from work and it was like I was racing a little moped....LOL

Sounds like a 1930s Citroen has a camera attached to it! I doubt that is what the G8 sounds like...maybe that's the V6!

Agree with you. This car actually looks pretty nice, and Euro cars are just overpriced junk boxes.American and Japanese all the way =D

the only reason this car may not sell well is because of economy issues GM fault is waiting too late to get there act together just like Ford...the quality is there now and the looks....i rented a G8 a week ago with the smaller v8 not the bigdog and i clocked 139mph before governor hit it was beautiful in white the material was nice and i had 2of my big hipped cousins in the back with me and had pleeeennnty of room this car is the shit i know GM has let u down but this car is the one trust me...

I was just generalizing. My main point was, many new cars get great reviews by various automotive magazines, including Consumer Reports, but all those Best In Class awards on not based on maintenance and reliability data. They can't be, because the cars evaluated were new. That's why many German and some American cars often get high marks for new cars. But, look at a Consumer Reports magazine for used cars. The "Best Buys" are mostly Japanese, because the selections included repair data.

Just bought this car a month ago. Wow, only time will tell, but I think it may be the best car I've ever owned! I've been buying&driving Europeans for 15 years exclusively and planned to do it again when I stumbled on the G8 GT. The test drive sealed the deal. It renders all European cars available in the U.S. wildly overpriced. My advise to anyone shopping BMW, Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Volvo or SAAB is to take a spin in this thing and you'll end up keeping some money in your pocket as a bonus!

"German cars tend to to perform really well and look pretty good" lets just exclude VW from the list of good performing&looking german cars
skybluemarshall (October 25, 2008 at 8:59 am)
That said, I like the way a lot of American cars look and they tend to be cheaper. German cars tend to to perform really well and look pretty good. Japanese cars tend to look bland, perform pretty well and break down far less than all other cars. It all depends on what you want. There are pluses to all, if you choose the right car. I think the way to go is Japanese for high mileage cars, German for performance, American to cruise in style and look cool

Quality is a subjective word that means different things to different people. To me a quality includes the least amount of repairs and lowest maintenance costs. German cars get high marks for NEW cars in many magazines. But, take a look at various consumer and customer based reports on USED cars, which include maintenance costs, repairs and problems. Both German and American cars are weak and the Japanese cars win, hands down. Quality is more than how good it looks and drives. Does it last?

That's the first i've heard of problems like that. I have a Silverado myself and it's an excellent truck. Before that I had a Chevy C1500 which is just the work truck model of the Silverado and I hadn't had any problems with that either.

well, i can tell you that my girlfriend's parents are leasing two gms, one is a 2006 pontiac g6 nearly at the end of it's contract and the other is a 2007 silverado. the g6 has already begun to have multiple problems. both front wheel bearing are faulty, ecu has been unreliable and, according to her father, the automatic tranny is the worse he has ever seen. it jumps and misses shifts...on a 2006. the silverado lacks power on occasion probably due to the maf sensor but other than that it's ok.
TrueConservative123 (October 21, 2008 at 11:12 pm)
Youre right about the Saab thing, I dont know why I was thinking it was German. However I would like to know what quality issues you are talking about with GM vehicals? This isn't the 1990's anymore. Yes over a decade ago there were a few problems with a few select vehicals just as some Euro cars had problems with them catching on fire and mechanical issues (especialy BMW on the mechanical) and just as how some Japanese cars had major electrical problems.
standardwolfsburg (October 21, 2008 at 2:07 am)
if i'm not mistaken, that engine's timing is wayyy off and the concept is wrong. they're using a 6L V8 in a sedan the way they did back in the 60's-70's; when emissions weren't of any concern.i don't know what GM's approach is on this but they're selling an inexpensive car with a massive engine. (maclaren's f1 also has a 6L) while other manufacturers are producing clean diesel engines, pontiac pulls this out of their pants? it worked in the 60's, it won't work in 2009.

my younger brother wrote the last comment so the spelling is off. however, i do agree that american companies in general are all going bankrupt for the same reasons: short term profit and share holder value. general motors, whether you call it chevrolet, pontiac or moldsmobile, uses the same approach and quality is severely compromised. there is no way any american company can outperform a company across seas other than in price. i'll stick to my volkswagen.saab is sweedish by the way.

omfg hearts and thoughts they fade... fade away.but they dont fade like my pictures
TrueConservative123 (October 17, 2008 at 7:13 pm)
Since we Americans are so stupid then maybe I should ask you what the heck the word "compagnies" is? I'm not a fan of the Pontiac brand of GM. I prefer the Chevrolet brand over any of your beloved German brands. By the way GM an American company owns Saab which is, guess what..a German company. Also most Chevrolet's outperform class for class most Euro brands. The reason why American is considered cheaper is because the interiors aren't as fancy as the Euro cars and are less expensive.
standardwolfsburg (October 16, 2008 at 7:43 pm)
WTF.. were did you here that. BMW are great cars and they will always be better then stupid american compagnies... Think about it, americans came out with nothing at all but the germain compagnies..they came out with the turbo, all wheel drive, variable valve timing and probably more that I don't no of. Americans make stupid peaces of shit that don't last for crap. GM has the worst problems when it comes to..well cars, they just don't know how to make them write!!
greatbison (October 16, 2008 at 6:16 am)
Ask any mechanic and tow truck driver in Arizona, and they'll all tell you the same thing "BMW keeps food on my table." That's because they don't design them for the extreme heat we have out here and the electronics constantly fail.
