Scientists are now building a new kind of robot capable of self-assembly and doing tasks too difficult or too dangerous for human beings.

fodtodd (November 21, 2008 at 7:44 pm)
thats the scariest shit ive ever seen
spot0914 (November 20, 2008 at 9:13 pm)
That is scary now that you mention it... Maybe there'll be robot viruses one day instead of computer viruses.
Spanished (November 20, 2008 at 6:14 am)
I dunno. If computers can be hacked by people who want to mess with us PC theres a good chance that robots could later be hacked as well by those who know how to hack and have bad intentions

Ahhh, I see now why you asked "Who?"Well, the first that came to mind when he said they can't take over the world was movies with machines overpowering humans.
So yea. =P
BTW Finally, another inteligent person on YouTube that doesn't say, "Go suck a cock" or some other stupid remark.

Do you seriously believe that all these people are sane?
DesmondInnovation (November 19, 2008 at 2:45 pm)
Make that "I, Robot" (not iRobot as in the vacuum cleaner).
DesmondInnovation (November 19, 2008 at 2:27 pm)
In that case, I think it's a fairly good comment. I made my rebuttal comment by ignoring that assumption for 2 reasons:
1. this is real emerging technology that may one day be as much a part of our everyday lives as TV or a pair of socks
2. occurrences in movies are incorrectly applied to analyzing reality when it's only meant to be taken metaphorically (e.g., iRobot) or as a joke (e.g., time travel in Back To The Future)
BTW, modular robotics does not necessarily have to be autonomous.

Oh, it was just an example. XD But my main point is; you can't fear anything that can think on its own or function in a group. You'd simply go crazy. In addition, the computer that you're using to view this is probably more "intelligent" than these robots.
F22PilotArcile (November 19, 2008 at 12:04 am)
I was just making a reference to movies. Cuz in a lot of movies with self-thinking machines, their creators always say that it is incapible of killing humans or something of the sort. Then what happens? All hell breaks loose with man-killing robots. Its dumb statement, yes, but I just felt like saying it.

Yea, but there aren't lots of tigers among us, and neither can those tigers join together to form a super tiger....

The way they work (in theory) is much like multi celled life. where individual cells once taken a position in the body and continued to work for that purpose until it dies off.
Were all made out of billions of single cell life forms all working hard to keep the whole running as one. the robots however can choose to reconfigure. this is a good experiment in how to let nano robots work. and the combined efforts also has the effect of enhancing the overall intelligence.

Really, being afraid of a robot that can do things on its own is like saying you're afraid of a tiger that can do things on its own, including repairing itself. Those darn tigers are probably still smarter and more dangerous than silly robots, you know.
Besides, the makers of robots know more about how they work than, say, the average person on youtube. I'm just saying, don't jump to conclusions.

Cool, I would buy some.
DesmondInnovation (November 17, 2008 at 9:26 am)
Really? Please tell me more. Who are "they"&what machines did they make? Which ones could take over the world despite makers' claims to the contrary?
F22PilotArcile (November 17, 2008 at 4:34 am)
They always say that their machines can't take over the world.
jonforemanrules (November 17, 2008 at 4:11 am)
check out my robots.
skyalleninyourface (November 17, 2008 at 2:53 am)
they need power, we just have to make sure they art smart enough to buy AAs LOL
nirvanaman64 (November 17, 2008 at 1:49 am)
worst idea ive ever herd
jonforemanrules (November 16, 2008 at 11:17 pm)
that is brilliant
BaliskaTheDark (November 16, 2008 at 11:14 pm)
yeah this is a bad idea...i dont like having robots that do stuff on their own
dortom2 (November 16, 2008 at 10:47 pm)
They don't need us. Junk that Idea.
