Sesame Street - orange sings Carmen
Classic stop motion animated film from Sesame Street, said to have been created by Jim Henson. Oranges, of course, are high in acid (citric). The song is from the opera Carmen.

Carmen, Bizet. L'amour est un oiseau rebelle.

When I was a kid, I always thought she was singing "The Moon", not "Lamour" (or however the heck you spell that).

Kids who woke up screaming in the middle of the night because of this animation are the only true enlightened people of our time. Like a veteran of some terrible conflict, they've broken through mental walls that have broadened their cognitive landscape. Rock on, Sesame Street!

I think that it is a simple trick that they use. instead of lookin at it from the front, they are actuly filming from the top looking down on the object, and moving it arround thus it looks like it's jumping.that's what i think

Classic! Bravo! Thanks for the Sesame Street memories! I'm just trying to figure out who the Bozo was who only gave it 4 stars. I'm giving it Five!

AHHHH!

Good question,I've wondered that as well. One way they could do it is to have the object on a stick, attached in the back where we can't see it but I'm not sure that's how they do it.

That's funny - only now I notice how American that French is :)

Everytime I saw this segment when I watched Sesame Street back in the 80s, I immediatly thought of either having an orange to eat or if I were thirsty, I'd be in the mood for orange juice.Interesting imagination that Jim Henson had. We fans of Sesame Street, The Muppets, and all other Jim Henson programs that were created, we still miss him.

I hate to sound like a dumbass but one thing has always puzzled me about stop motion animation. How do they hold objects in the air to film them, like when the orange jumps? If it were a string then they'd have to wait until it stopped swinging every time. Also, how do they tip the bottles? God I'm such an idiot.
