To say that in less words, salt is an electrolyte. :D

it's to act as a transporter for the ions when electrons are produced from the copper it's left with Cu2+ ions which have to go to the other copper plate and yeah that's where they build up.. im assuming that because that would be in a normal redox equation.. though yeah just got out of high school so i dont see how this is renewable without putting a powersource in to reverse the reaction.. in my mind it's more like a rechargable battery but hey what do i know

This is good info man! Check out this lady who has installed her own solar panels on her house, she`s almost off-grid!

those of you looking to power your entire house with this, remember youre still using a lot of energy to oxidize (or reduce, idk) the copper with the stove... very cool DIY project though

I am a green power enthusiast myself. I'm a big proponent of the benefits of renewable energy

Thanks for posting, it's good to go green and protect our pllanet

No, actually you can generate a significant amount of energy using these generators. You can easily power smaller appliances with these panels. And if you put more panels, and build your system well enough, you might notice a significant decrease of the power bill.

hm, great vid, but i guess you should need like a football stadium filled with those sheets to generate enough energy for one house.

Ups: Cheap, you can do it yourself.Downs: Very low quality, low rating wattage. If your going to go this far, you might as well buy a smaller cheaper panel that will produce close to the same to a much larger homemade unit. Solar Energy may be free, but try making a close to free reliable panel is too good to be true.
