Mika Hakkinen vs Michael Schumacher - Spa Francorchamps
One of the best passing moves you'll ever see. A master at the peak of his powers, Hakkinen is all class. And that Mercedes engine is making some sweet sounds.

Agreed, the Ferrari had issues with the rear tyres and therefore was not as quick through eurouge as the McLaren.

if michael was on wets on the last set like you think he was... are u suggesting that his best lap, which was 2 tenths faster than mika's on a drying track really was made on wets??? how cud any1 makes the fastest lap of the race on wet tires on an almost dry track??michael got passed cause his dry tires were over heating.

I know the race very well 2. Michael was on wets on a drying track. Watch it again.
Don't think i'm taking anything away from Mika here, he deserved to win and was a great driver.

FORMULAONEFAN101 (December 13, 2008 at 3:13 pm)
I think that the mika hakkinen and michael schumacher rivalry will go down as one of the greastest rivalries in f1 history.

mika is a legend

Aye, Mika is just an all round good guy. He was sound when he was driving in F1 (given the language barrier) and he was a good laugh on Top Gear the other week. Especially given he had to put up with James May. Respect.
moguetricky (December 11, 2008 at 11:38 pm)
Who else? Mansel would've.
Schumacher was never afraid of Hakkinen, he just liked him because he knew that he was better than him.

woot mika on paras! great precision!
phantomphreaq (December 4, 2008 at 6:30 pm)
Schumacher said that Hakkinen was the only driver in F1 he was ever afraid of on track. And you can see why! Who else would have dared such a maneuver?
Hakkinen had a house fire in his newley completed mansion in France in May. A faulty wireing system in his trophy room started the fire, taking ALL his trophies, most of the house (and his dog) with it!!. How gutting is that??

have you ever driven one? If you had any significant racing experience, or common sense, you'd know that the reason it looks easy is because, the drivers are very experienced and talented. If you tried to drive an F1, you wouldn't even get it down the pits, and that's before you're 30+ seconds off the pace, or smashed into the barriers.

Mika would have been world Champ that year if Mclaren would have just gave him a car that didn't break down in the last 3 races, Engine wise, i don't think either one was more powerful than the other, Can't remember tire choise myself but I did watch this race live, it came down to the fact that Hakk had less downforce that was why he was nowhere close in corners all the way around the track. Remember Hakk Spun while leading or all this may not have happened. But good point
