it is rules. but then now in ITF taekwon-do world championships, expect to take full contact. its a shame really, but it does happen. i mean ive been punched off my feet in a national tournement from the power before, alot depends on the ref aswell. as to what he allows.

U can see Hwang, Su Il(2nd match 1:23) as Hwarang in Tekken.

itf rules not like wtf making points by trowing yourself on the ground
Semimaru (December 27, 2008 at 12:44 am)
wow that was one of the most exciting matches ive seen from any rules of fighting in a long time, excellent skill!
maidanac (December 18, 2008 at 10:31 pm)
Besides a question of points, one don't want to get to close to the adversary (mainly if the adversary uses legs a lot -such as in TKD-) because it will not last too long trying to box (not only because a power that a kick transmit is a several times larger than any punch but because when the adversary gets too close -to punch/grab- is when jumping spinning kick and an ax kick can be used in a more effective way).
maidanac (December 18, 2008 at 10:26 pm)
Yes, one can "fake" a possible kick under the belt (i.e. legs, knee) and while approaching to suddenly change direction... About the spinning kick, that was a jumping one (if I saw correctly) and any jumping kick posses some inertia that it is difficult to control so it will always more powerful than a non jumping kick (with exceptions). Cheers.

The first referee looks like my Master.
Trashjack101 (December 16, 2008 at 11:20 am)
Well he was just getting the point across that they allow it though
FU0C0 (December 6, 2008 at 10:29 pm)
well explained =D. Though that spinning kick to the head seemed full force...but im assuming it wasnt? Also, what do you mean by "mark[ing]" the movement? They can fake a low kick under the belt?
maidanac (December 6, 2008 at 9:52 am)
Yes, that's right. Because that would mean that one cannot control oneself. Also, in this kind of sparring one cannot throw nor kick under the belt but one can "mark" the movement. The idea of this kind of sparrig is not only to be able to use the basic techniques but also to show that one has control over the distances and how the techniques can be applied.

Hey is it true that, in ITF taekwondo, full force blows aren't allowed and points will be deducted if utilised?
TheTerrorUforgot (December 2, 2008 at 10:49 pm)
ITF allows punches to the face? These guys aren't hitting each other in the face at all.
greengirl3729 (November 30, 2008 at 5:46 am)
In AAU, they use fists in sparring.
Thorolf9 (November 29, 2008 at 1:09 am)
I totally agree, the more you take out of a fight the less realistic it is. But it's not that you can't punch in WTF, it's just that most people don't. Maybe it wouldn't be like that if punches to the head were allowed like ITF, but you can still punch the body.

I respect TKD...and all martial arts for whatever thy're...However, I feel that WTF should include fists in sparring to make it better...
garpanda (November 25, 2008 at 9:36 pm)
ther is a huge difference between itf and wtf,wtf dont allow hand contact to face but allow full contact kicks.the patterns or poomse are very different in both application and power, also the wtf kicks are different particulary dollyo chagi or turning kick.wtf was formed after the general left korea with tkd it was the governments way of keeping an art hence why wtf has government backing with kukkikwon etc the itf patterns are named after historic people in korean history the wtf are numbered

there good but they can use there hands more like jakie chans gorgeous fight i say you watch it
kenndezerted (November 19, 2008 at 7:06 pm)
there is a big differnce between the two itf and wtf....the origins both come from the same person almost, but wtf weant and became in the olympics, its more so for popularity...Itf was invented by General Choi....the main differnce can be seen in the forms that they both practice
Rokdogg (November 16, 2008 at 4:35 pm)
Those girls in the background were fucking annoying. I wanted to do a spinning triple back kick in their face
azynstyles (November 15, 2008 at 11:44 pm)
