I agree. The look of the characters really annoys me. Spidey looks like he's 8 years old.

probably wont compare to the one from Fox during the 90's. Without a doubt that was my favorite

cool that rules man ive seen that before rocks

I wouldn't call it childish.
They pull off a drug addiction on the show, show Tombstone getting stabbed in the back with razorbats, Doc Ock telling Rhino to impale Spidey's heart on his horn, TONS of sexual innuendo, REAL fight scenes and none of those dumb futuristic blasters TAS had. Lots of little things makes the show have lots for each demographic.
And like I've explained countless times. The animation is AMAZING. So smooth and fast paced. What you don't like is the character designs.

Yeah; point taken. But it's not like they're just gonna get up and change their art direction at this point.
Season 2's already in the can and starting in Canada in 8 days. The guys working on the show have said that they like the art style, too.
So either way; don't expect a change in that.

Ah yes, budget...the one crucial element eh? Well pricey movies of good quality will always get their money back through the box office, or as in this case from the television viewers...

'Cept me then. But I guess I'm Mister Nobody.
I don't, after reading Spidey comics for half my life. There were only two good dark Spidey stories; the death of Jean De Wolfe, Kraven's Last Hunt. But when Todd McFarlane had him going up against rabid killing monsters and demons it all sucked.
From all my reading, I've learned that Spidey isn't typically a character who should be subjected to that. Spider-Man is generally a character that can be enjoyed by all ages. And this show delivers that

Why shouldn't they? Comics once catered to teens, but now no teen honestly cares about comics, except maybe manga.I honestly find the Spider-Man franchise to be somewhat dark for kids. I think he makes a great video game character, though. What Batman is for movies, Spider-Man is for games.

Just curious; have you actually watched the show or are just basing your opinions on the trailer alone? 'Cause lots of people seem to be doing that.
NDoubleDC (January 3, 2009 at 9:09 am)
The MTV one was one of the worst, IMO.
It totally missed the basic point of what Spider-Man should be and replaced that with the generic 'MTV teen' and constantly catered to the MTV audience over comic fans.

The MTV one was better. I hate it when they make kiddy shows out of PG-13 rated movies...

this spiderman show sucks!
NDoubleDC (January 2, 2009 at 6:45 am)
K.
But it is about budget, too; and this show has a fairly low budget. More detailed designs WITH great, smooth animation costs more to make. The less detail the better the animation is in this case. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, yes, I get the point. It's harder for animators to animate, but remember that the 1990s are gone, and today we've got 2D software, so animators can find a lot of work cut out for them...wouldn't you agree?
NDoubleDC (January 1, 2009 at 10:08 pm)
You don't get what I'm saying, do you?
The more detailed the characters look; the harder it is for animators to animate them. It's common knowledge in the animation biz.

Complicated? The more detail they're given the more realistic it looks, plus impressive quality.
NDoubleDC (January 1, 2009 at 9:17 am)
And Spidey never complained about his life in any comic or TAS? It's part of who he is.
NDoubleDC (January 1, 2009 at 9:16 am)
I'm not saying it was bad; I enjoyed most of the first half of the show. Read my post again. It DID have mediocre animation as a whole since it's character designs were so complicated.
I can accept if you don't like the designs but it should be common knowledge that cleaner designs allow for smoother animation.

NDoubleDC: hey wacko, how dare you say the 1990s animation was bad?? this vid that i just saw is nothing compared to the golden times of the 1990s. spidey looks like he's in 5th grade or something...it's like some retard drew him for 2 year-olds.
show professionalism like the Episodes of 1994 - 1998! Period!
