This is a different mix than I remember. The piano sample sounds reversed or run through an effect of some kind. Great song. This was back when hip hop was still intelligent and politically threatening. The whole country was terrified over the idea of music being used to wake up people. Most music today is bling, bitches, and BMWs. Or fake rebellion. Safe, corporate controlled acts that sell mediocrity and consumerism to kids. Rap was supposed to be the answer to all that.......but today?
Rambo4President (January 3, 2009 at 5:22 pm)
Public Enemy FTW! THAT'S RAP!

I wish I had my own s1w's. I could go everywhere and Prof. Griff and the w's would get my back. I always loved Terminator's glasses, too. Like he just came from having his pupils dilated by the optometrist.

Um--this video is 20 years old---and PE was using the whole jail thing as a metaphor for how black men are always assumed to be criminals simply because they ARE black. A lot of these rappers now just throw out anything to make some money and a radio hit, not because they actually lived a criminal life-some of them are what we used to call fake "studio gangsters". Apparently you don't know a damn thing about PE or what they stood for--don't judge them by ONE video and 1 song they made.
statelybird3 (December 30, 2008 at 8:12 am)
It's a VIDEO,fool---they're just rappers--not actual crminals--duh.
